Common questions

What side is Mount Fuji on the Shinkansen?

Right side going from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka, left side going toward Tokyo. Seat E in ordinary cars and seat D in the Green Car are the window seats on that side.

Can you see Mount Fuji from the Shinkansen every day?

No. Clouds hide the peak on many days, especially June to September. Check today's visibility before you book a seat.

Is the Nozomi covered by the JR Pass?

Yes, since October 2023 you can ride Nozomi by paying a supplement. Hikari is fully covered and stops at similar times near Fuji.

Which station gives the best view?

Shin-Fuji. The train runs close to the mountain with open fields in front, about 45 to 50 minutes from Tokyo.
