Tips

Make the shot count

Be there at first light

Fuji is statistically clearest in the first two hours after sunrise. Cloud builds through the morning.

Pack a phone tripod

Most viral Fuji shots are taken with a phone on a small tripod for the wider crop and timer.

Respect the spot

Lawson Kawaguchiko, Oshino Hakkai and Chureito Pagoda all have new etiquette rules. Don't block roads or trespass.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the most famous Fuji photo location?

Chureito Pagoda in Fujiyoshida. The combination of pagoda, cherry blossoms and snow-capped Fuji is the single most reproduced Japan postcard.

Can I get a good Fuji shot in summer?

It is harder. Aim for sunrise from Lake Yamanaka or Asagiri. Afternoons in July-August almost always cloud over.

Do I need a DSLR?

No. Modern smartphones handle Fuji beautifully. Use the 2x or 3x lens to compress depth.

How do I avoid crowds at the best spots?

Show up before sunrise on a weekday. By 9 AM Chureito, Oshino and Lawson all have queues, even off-season.
