Up the mountain

The Fuji Subaru Line.

The 30 km toll road that climbs from Kawaguchiko at 850 m up to Fuji 5th station at 2305 m. It is how most climbers and day trippers reach the trailhead.

When it is open

Open year round, but winter snow can close upper sections at short notice. The climbing season is 1 July to 10 September on the Yoshida trail.

Climbing season car ban

During the summer climbing season private cars are not allowed above Fujihokuroku parking. Park and ride shuttles run every 30 minutes from the parking area to the 5th station.

Bus from Kawaguchiko station

Direct bus runs roughly hourly in daylight, 55 minutes one way, about 1780 yen one way / 2800 yen round trip. Tickets at the Kawaguchiko station counter.

Toll fee for cars

Outside the climbing season the toll for a regular car is 2100 yen round trip. Motorbikes 1050 yen. Bicycles are not allowed.
