Kawaguchiko in one weekend

Kawaguchiko is the easiest base for first time visitors. Two hours from Shinjuku by bus, packed with Fuji views, and small enough to circle by bike in a day.

Saturday: arrival and the north shore

Catch the 07:45 highway bus from Shinjuku. Drop bags at your ryokan by 11:00 and rent a bike at the station.

Cycle to Oishi Park via the north shore. Lunch at one of the lakeside cafes, then ride the Panorama Ropeway in the afternoon for an elevated view.

Sunset from Ubuyagasaki Cape, then onsen at your ryokan. Book the open air bath slot in advance.

Sunday: Chureito and a slow return

Early start to Chureito Pagoda by train, two stops on the Fujikyuko Line. Aim for arrival 30 minutes before sunrise.

Breakfast in Fujiyoshida, then back to Kawaguchiko station by 11:00. Optional stop at the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum on the way home.

Catch the 14:00 bus back to Shinjuku to avoid the evening rush.
