Tips

How to keep costs down

  • · Take the highway bus instead of the JR Chuo line + Fujikyu Railway combo - it is faster and roughly half the price.
  • · Stay in Fujikawaguchiko hostels rather than ryokan - the same lakefront view costs a fraction.
  • · The best free Fuji viewpoints (Oishi Park, Chureito Pagoda grounds, Lake Saiko shore) cost nothing.
  • · Convenience stores at Kawaguchiko Station are cheaper than restaurants. Lawson and FamilyMart sell hot meals.
  • · Skip Fuji-Q Highland unless you ride - day passes are expensive.
