Budget travel
Mount Fuji on a budget.
A clear-day Fuji trip from Tokyo can cost less than dinner in Shibuya. Highway buses, day passes, hostels and free lakeside viewpoints make it possible to do this trip from under ¥10,000 a day.

Tips
How to keep costs down
- · Take the highway bus instead of the JR Chuo line + Fujikyu Railway combo - it is faster and roughly half the price.
- · Stay in Fujikawaguchiko hostels rather than ryokan - the same lakefront view costs a fraction.
- · The best free Fuji viewpoints (Oishi Park, Chureito Pagoda grounds, Lake Saiko shore) cost nothing.
- · Convenience stores at Kawaguchiko Station are cheaper than restaurants. Lawson and FamilyMart sell hot meals.
- · Skip Fuji-Q Highland unless you ride - day passes are expensive.
