What to know
Practical tips
- · Trails to the summit are closed. Climbing is not permitted outside July to early September.
- · Roads above the fifth station close. Plan around lake viewpoints, Chureito and Hakone.
- · Mornings before 9 am are sharpest. Cloud often builds by early afternoon.
- · Bring serious cold weather layers. Yamanakako can drop well below freezing.
