Bloom window 8 to 18 April
The most photographed sakura and Fuji frame in Japan. Climb the 398 steps before sunrise to claim a spot on the upper terrace before the crowds arrive.
Bloom window 12 to 22 April
A 300 metre corridor of cherry trees lines the north shore promenade. Calm mornings deliver textbook reflections of Fuji and blossoms in the lake.
Bloom window 5 to 18 April
Quieter than Kawaguchi with a short forest walk in. The southern aspect of Fuji rises directly across the lake for a clean compositional line.
Bloom window 1 to 12 April
Riverside cherry tunnel along the Hayakawa with petal carpets drifting downstream. Fuji is visible from the higher Hakone viewpoints on clear days.
A typical year, north to south. Use this as a planning grid and overlay the current year's forecast in late March.
First blossoms appear in Hakone and the Izu peninsula at lower elevation.
